Shelf Candy Saturday [11]

Shelf Candy Saturday is a weekly meme hosted by Five Alarm Books. Every Saturday, bloggers post a cover that really caught their eye over the week for everyone to see. Judging a book by it's cover has never been so fun

My eyes kind of went all dreamy when I first saw this weeks Shelf Candy. I was instantly hooked and I know you all will be too.
Check it out!

 Crewel
Gennifer Albin
Incapable. Awkward. Artless.

That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.

Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.

Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.

Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.

Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

:Why It's Shelf Candy:
Do you really need to ask me that question. I mean...HELLO! Look at this gorgeous cover! And if those wisps of colorful smoke isn't enough to draw your eye in, read the synopsis! This is something in YA that we have not seen before and it has me gnawing on my nails in anticipation. Now I would like to ask you all a question. How the hell have I not seen this before?! As soon as I laid eyes on it I wanted it on my shelf, like, yesterday. I know many of you have probably fainted from shear beauty right now, so I will let you all collect yourselves, but when you do, don't forget to head on over to goodreads and add this gem to your list. Lord knows I will be fawning all over this on October 16th.

  7. You know, it's interesting that this novel is named "Crewel". I know it's a play on the word "cruel", but it also rhymes with the word "jewel". Perhaps the author intended this, because this cover is a true jewel!! This is one of those covers that not only pull you in, but also keep you there! It's definitely a visual delight! The gorgeous colors flowing all over it, that swirl of hot pink (this is the only shade of pink I like) that meets up with the swirl created by the title... I'd love to frame this as art, because that's what it is! I absolutely LOVE this cover, and I want this book on my shelves already!! I'll keep my eyes peeled on October 16th!! Thanks for featuring this jewel of a cover!! : )
