Shelf Candy Saturday [9]

Shelf Candy Saturday is a weekly meme hosted by Five Alarm Books and I chose to do it so I could brighten up my Saturdays! Every Saturday, bloggers get to post a cover that has really caught their eye over the week for everyone else to see. It is a great way to find some new books to be put on your to be read shelf or just admire the wonderful covers that are already there. Judging a book by it's cover has never been so fun. [:

So this week I am going to do things a bit differently. Usually I will give you the cover and then have you click on the link to read the synopsis and add it to your tbr pile over on goodreads but this book JUST had its cover reveal the other day and the synopsis is still not on goodreads yet. So that means this week I am doing a bit of a cover reveal/synopsis reveal because this book took my breath away folks.
So here we go! My pick for this weeks Shelf Candy.

 The Carny
Brooke Moss
Release Date: July 21st 2012
At a town fair on the coast of Oregon, handsome Native American carny, Vincent Youngblood, bestows an unforgettable kiss on shy, awkward teenager, Charlotte Davenport. Then disappears without another word, leaving her baffled and enamored.

Ten years later, Charlotte is still living in the small fishing town of Astoria, while being trained to--reluctantly--take over for her philandering hotelier father when he retires. After all, who else will do it? Her two perfect sisters are busy being married to their flawless husbands and having cookie cutter children, while Charlotte remains single, childless, and every bit as mousy as she was a decade ago.

As Charlotte struggles to climb out from underneath her judgmental parents thumb, the carnival rolls back into town, and Charlotte finds herself face to face with Vin again. He's back to run his father's carnival, walking away from a promising career in medicine he started in Chicago. Will her biased and judgmental family accept her relationship with a man who is not only a Native American, but works as a carny for a living? And what unsavory secrets bind the well-educated and seemingly superlative Vin to that ramshackle carnival? After all, you can’t judge a carny by its cover.

Why It's Shelf Candy
Okay, I had never heard of this book before and then I was browsing down my blogger reader and saw it. I was enamored. I had to click on the title and read what this beautiful cover was going to be about. As soon as I read the synopsis I knew this was going to be a top read for me this year. The idea is so different from anything out there and honestly a love story with a carny is going to make me flip. We all think of carnies as dirty people trying to outrun some type of past and I KNOW this book is going to blow me away. I have a feeling I will be looking at carnies in a whole new light. And back to the cover, I mean just LOOK! The colors are perfect, like a fair on the beach at sunset. *sigh* Not to mention the hot kiss on top of my dreamy sunset. Beautiful. Click on the cover to head on over to goodreads to add it to your tbr list.

  3. It's terrific! I am not sure what I like better, the hot couple, the lighting and color of the sky, or the carnival in the background. I remember seeing the sight of a carnival as a little kid. The moment I spotted it, I had high hopes that someone would bring me.
Thanks for sharing this awesome cover. This is my first chance to see it.

  6. Hey, Shawna!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my Shelf Candy post!

This cover is as different from anything I've ever seen as the synopsis is from anything I've ever read! I can see why you fell in love with it -- I LOVE it, too!! In this case, the lettering was very well chosen, and it ties the cover together. The predominant color not only reminds me of a sunset, but also refers to Vin's Native American heritage, I think. And that lingering, sweet kiss going on in the top left-hand corner...sigh....

This cover looks like a movie poster, as well. And speaking of that, I think I see a movie coming!

This is going on my Goodreads TBR shelf like RIGHT NOW!!!

Thanks for featuring this book!! : )

  8. It's so soft and peaceful looking! My favorite thing about the cover is definitely the colors. They're not loud and in your face, but subtle and awe-inspiring. I also really like how the title is huge and chaotic and messy but still beautiful. It makes for a great contrast. Great pick!
